Dr. Ann Bynum

Now a familiar face in the greater Greenville area, Dr. Ann Bynum first moved to Simpsonville and opened Holly Tree Pediatric Dentistry in 1997. Originally from Ocala, Florida, Dr. Ann completed her undergraduate training at Florida State University before attending dental school at the University of Iowa, where she met her husband, Dr. Matt Bynum. She completed two further years of training in pediatric dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas, and is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist.

Dr. Ann is passionate about pediatric dental care. Drawn to pediatrics in large part because of the unique educational opportunities the field affords, Dr. Ann sees her office as both a clinic and a classroom. She considers every visit, no matter how routine, an opportunity to teach and motivate her patients.

Dr. Ann is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and an active member of the Southeast Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and the American Dental Association. She has lectured and written numerous articles on customer service, marketing, and teamwork over the years. When not in the office, she enjoys spending time with her husband and their three boys: Matthew, Luke, and John.

Dr. Megan Charowski

Dr. Megan grew up in the suburbs of Pittsburgh but moved to Myrtle Beach in her teens. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Coastal Carolina University before attending the Medical University of South Carolina for dental school. It was there that she met her husband, Dr. Tomek Charowski.

After graduation, Dr. Megan followed her husband to Dyess AFB in Abilene, Texas and worked as a general dentist in a pediatric dental office. After his Air Force commitment was complete, Dr. Megan decided to follow her heart and become a specialist. She completed a two-year pediatric residency at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. While in residency, Dr. Megan earned a Masters of Dental Science and treated patients at Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Dr. Megan joined the Holly Tree family in 2020. She loves to make a dental visit fun and enjoys helping patients overcome their fear of the dentist. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and an active member of the Southeast Society of Pediatric Dentistry and the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.

In her free time, Dr. Megan enjoys cooking (and eating), spending time with her husband and three kids (Rowan, Finley, and Poppy) and their two rescue pups (Sarge and Shelby). She has a huge love for sports, especially cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers!

Dr. Maria Jeffcoat

Dr. Maria joined our team in August 2023. She grew up in Dunwoody, Georgia, and completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Georgia, obtaining her Bachelor of Science in Biology. She attended the Dental College of Georgia at Augusta University for her dental training before specializing in pediatrics at Bon Secours St. Mary’s Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.

Dr. Maria’s passion for pediatric dentistry was ignited by her joyful experiences caring for neighborhood kids during her summers and her fond memories of her grandfather, who was a pediatrician. Witnessing the transformation and the profound influence her grandfather had on children’s lives, Dr. Maria knew that she wanted to follow in his footsteps.

After completing her two-year pediatric dental residency training, Dr. Maria alongside her husband, Jacob, and their pet chihuahua, Leonidas, moved to the Greenville area to make it their permanent home and to be closer to family. With relatives and cousins living in Simpsonville, she is happy to be serving a community with strong family ties and a deep familiarity from her childhood.

Dr. Maria enjoys building long-lasting relationships with families, providing exceptional dental care, and creating a positive impact in the lives of young patients. She is a diplomat of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and active member of the American Dental Association.

Being from Atlanta and a proud UGA graduate, Dr. Maria is a huge Braves and UGA Bulldogs fan. When she's not cheering on her favorite teams, she loves traveling abroad, spending time outdoors, and going on walks with her dog. Her greatest joy, though, is her family—her sweet son Dean keeps her on her toes, and the family is eagerly awaiting the arrival of baby brother Miller!

Dr. Basem Nashed

Dr. Nash was born and raised in Egypt then moved to Massachusetts in his early teens. He attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA where he graduated Magna Cum Laude in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. Upon graduation he was inducted into the elite Omicron Kappa Upsilon National Dental Honor Society which is reserved for the top 10% academic average, service, and professionalism among dental graduates.

Dr. Nash completed his postgraduate specialty training in Pediatric Dentistry at nationally ranked Children’s National Hospital in Washington, DC where he received extensive training in all areas of pediatric dentistry including craniofacial anomalies, trauma management, treating and counseling children with cleft lip and palate, as well as special needs and medically compromised patients.

Dr. Nash is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. In 2021 , he joined the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry as a Dean’s Faculty. He was also a member of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Craniofacial Team where he evaluated patients with cleft lip and palate, and other craniofacial syndromes.

Dr. Nash and his wife, Marina, moved to Greenville in 2024. They are excited to call the Upstate home and to serve the community.

Dr. Nash and Marina enjoy spending time with family and friends, global dental outreach, traveling, biking, pickleball, and spending time outdoors with their bernedoodle, Charleston.
