Dr. Rula Shalabi got her first taste for pediatric dentistry right here at Holly Tree. Working as a summer associate throughout high school and college, Dr. Rula, who used to babysit Dr. Ann’s sons, fell in love with pediatric dentistry. After completing her undergraduate work at Furman University, she attended dental school at the Medical University of South Carolina. She then completed two additional years of training in Pediatric Dentistry at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. While in residency, Dr. Rula was awarded “Resident of the Year” for her dedication and accomplishments during her specialty training.
Like Dr. Ann, Dr. Rula has a knack for building relationships with and educating families. She believes in instilling good oral hygiene practices at an early age and makes early childhood education and prevention a top priority in her work.
Dr. Rula is a Diplomate with the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She is an active member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Southeast Society of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, and the South Carolina Dental Association. In addition, Dr. Rula holds clinical staff privileges at the Greenville Health System. At home, Dr. Rula enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Mohsen Alqalam, and their sons, Kamal and Kareem. Her other hobbies include cooking, painting, traveling, and rediscovering the great new areas of upstate South Carolina.
